Money raised at Flag day

The Guernsey Flag Day took place over three days last week – Wed 4th, Friday 6th and Saturday 7th October. Below is a note from the organiser:

A huge thank you to all those who helped and I hope the few caught in the rain have dried off by now! The 4 new weekday slots proved very productive and we will repeat them next year and, hopefully, we can get permission to further extend the number of shops/locations. This year we had 20 locations, involving 157 hours of collecting and the help of 150 collectors.

The total for all locations was marginally down from last year BUT due to an amazingly generous and unexpected donation of £800 the total raised was a staggering £6,613. (in 2016 the total was £6,021)

My “thank you” is mirrored of course by the gratitude of the widows and orphans in Kagera for whom this extra help will be such a blessing.

Thank you, thank you! Asante sana!

Diana

The 9th Flag day will be Sat 6th October 2018 (+ Wed/Fri of the preceding week). If you are interested in helping, contact arundale2@gmail.com

This annual event has now raised some £35,000.
